Preparing For Photos

Identify Siblings

Sibling photos work best if the older sibling is brought down to be photographed with the younger's group. Young children can become nervous when brought to a room with kids they don't know. Often preschoolers are much higher energy than their younger counterparts and toddlers can find a large group of preschoolers intimidating.

Check Outfits

Parents can be particular about their child's outfit. Of course, they want the best possible picture of their child to share with friends and family. Children, unfortunately, don't understand the importance of keeping their outfit clean and ready for pictures. It is best to change young children (infants and toddlers) immediately before their photos. In practice, their photo schedules often fall very close to changing times so it can be minimally obtrusive for the staff to change them into their outfits shortly before photos are done. This ensures their outfits stay clean and dry.

For preschoolers (or senior toddlers) a sweatshirt or cardigan is enough to ensure their picture day clothes stay clean and it can be easily taken off immediately before the child has their photo done.

Wipe Faces

The single largest preventable delay to the photo process is dirty faces. Unfortunately there is nothing that can be done to prevent noses from running or snack being spread on the children's cheeks but a thorough cleaning before children head to the photo area ensures that an otherwise great photo isn't ruined by the remnants of breakfast.

It is also suggested to have wet wipes and facial tissue on hand in the photo area so quick touch ups can be done immediately before the child's photo.
